Bequeathed to the Académie des Beaux-Arts in 1932 by collector Paul Marmottan, the library reopened to the public in 2026, following five years of restoration. It is currently managed by the Académie.
Adrien Goetz is its director, and Louis Paris is its administrator-curator.

Housed in a historic villa with decor inspired by the Empire style, the Marmottan Library holds approximately 20,000 volumes and 6,000 drawings and prints, focusing in particular on the Napoleonic era and the early 19th century.
It is simultaneously a heritage library, a research center, and a residence for artists and researchers.
Exhibitions, concerts, lectures, meetings, and guided tours also bring the site to life throughout the year.
